Photography has the ability to draw attention to what often escapes our perception, thereby bringing about shifts in expectations and visibility. This artistic research project takes salt as its starting point: an everyday material whose significance extends far beyond its obvious familiarity. In a constant interplay between preservation and dissolution, separation and connection, salt embodies processes of transformation that link natural phenomena with human culture.
Using photography as its primary artistic medium, the project explores the relationship between material transformation and the photographic image. It examines how artistic practice can deepen our understanding of materials.
